What is a video thumbnail?

Thumbnails are the still images that show before a video is clicked. They appear on feeds, on websites, or on blog posts - anywhere where you can watch a video.

Video thumbnails can be thought of as movie posters or book covers, they need to be visually appealing and attract your attention.

All major platforms, such as YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and even Twitter with their Media Studio, allow you to upload thumbnails.

Creating an eye-catching thumbnail is a great way to increase your engagement on your videos.
