Production

The first step in developing Season 2 of the Independent Oxford Podcast was to create a production and publishing schedule. They wanted to release episodes weekly, which required us to record 4 episodes per month, starting in May 2021.

Season 2 consisted of 18 episodes published weekly, ending in August 2021. Over the course of the Season, there was a 900% increase in listeners compared to Season 1.

We put together a schedule with the Independent Oxford team to record 4 episodes in one day, at our Podcast Studio in central Oxford, each month.

Recording the episodes in our Podcast Studio ensures professional quality audio that is essential for a Podcast. It also allows the guests and hosts to be together in person, which fosters and certain energy and connection which is hard to replicate virtually.

The Independent Oxford team set the foundations of the Podcast in Season 1, interviewing independent business owners in Oxfordshire and questions such as "why did you decide to start an indepenedent business?" and "how has the community of independent businesses in Oxfordshire supported you?".

This provided their listeners with a behind-the-scenes look into the businesses, and an insight into the world of the independnent businesses in Oxfordshire. The epsiodes in Season 1 were short, but sweet. For Season 2, wwe wanted to increase the duration of the episodes to allow for a richer, more detailed conversation, and the opportunity to go where the conversation leads us.

After creating a more detailed question list for the guests of Season 2, the next stage was to record the first 4 episodes, then edit them down and begin publishing them weekly on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and other 3rd Party Podcast platforms.

In addition to hosting and distributing the Podcast, we created a bespoke audiogram for the Independent Oxford team to share on social media for each episode. We created 3 verions of the audiogram to be used on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Stories.

We are currently working with Independent Oxford to develop Season 3.

This was our first project working with Story Ninety-Four and the first video ICEoxford had produced. They provided us with a fantastic corporate video which has led to some great customer feedback, causing us to book in the next two shoots straight away.
